Revisions proposed to New Jersey Statewide Water Supply Plan

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection released draft revisions to the New Jersey Statewide Water Supply Plan for the first time since 1996.  The New Jersey Water Supply Management Act (N.J.S.A. 58:1A-1 et. seq.) directs the DEP to develop and periodically revise the New Jersey Statewide Water Supply Plan to improve the management and protection of the state’s water supplies.

The NJDEP will also be holding public hearings to present the revisions to the plan and hear public comments.  The following are the dates of the hearings:

  • Tuesday, July 11 at 1 p.m., 401 E. State St., Trenton.
  • Wednesday, July 12 at 3 p.m., Millburn Public Library, 200 Glen Ave., Millburn.
  • Thursday, July 13 at 1 p.m., Stockton University, 101 Vera King Farris Drive, Galloway, Campus Center, Board of Trustees Room.

In addition to public comments made at the hearings, the NJDEP will consider comments received by the close of business on Wednesday, July 19, 2017.  Electronic comments may be submitted to: mailto:watersupply@dep.nj.gov. Please write “Draft Water Supply Plan Comments” in the subject line.
