Marathon Engineering & Environmental Services, Inc. was retained to prepare the Site Plan and lighting design for the Atlantic City Boardwalk from Jackson Avenue to Caspian Avenue. The project is now under construction with a section of the lights installed surrounding the Albany Avenue/Boardwalk intersection. Phase I of the project includes the section from Albany Avenue to the northern limit of the Revel Project Site (Metropolitan Avenue). Phase II will encompass the remaining areas from Jackson Avenue to Albany Avenue and north from the Revel site to Caspian Avenue. The design of the new lights provides a safe, well lit environment from the back side of the dunes to the opposite side of the boardwalk. The project also includes the design and location of security camera locations and poles to assist the City and the CRDA in making the boardwalk a safe place for both residents and visitors to the City of Atlantic City.
This project is a coordinated effort with the City of Atlantic City, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) and Atlantic City Electric and is intended to ensure that the lighting is consistent with the desired theme of the Boardwalk and provide for a safe and aesthetically lit environment. The $2.5 million project is the first under the newly created Tourism District in Atlantic City.
This contract is part of the Team of Marathon, AKRF and Vargo Associates contract with the CRDA as one of its Survey and Civil Engineering Services consultants for 2011.
