SITE PLANS AND LAND USE PERMITTING
LAKESIDE REFRIGERATED SERVICES (FOODCOMM)
Logan Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey
Marathon performed engineering and environmental services for Foodcomm International and Lakeside Refrigerated Services for development of the northeast operations center in Logan Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey. Foodcomm is a major international importer and distributor of meat products to major brand supermarkets and restaurants. The project was conceived and constructed in phases to allow for a rapid approval process, rapid construction, and rapid planning for growth. The site chosen for the project is immediately adjacent to interstate 295 and Oldmans Creek. The creek is surrounded by environmentally constrained and regulated areas, and Marathon utilized our expertise in land use permitting at the State and Federal level to aid Foodcomm with development of a plan that maximized their yield in phases. This allowed Foodcomm to avoid the lengthy land use approval processes for the first phase of development. Land use approval applications for the future phases were made soon after gaining approvals for the first phase so that as soon as they were operational, they could start construction on the successive phases.
Marathon assisted Foodcomm in obtaining multiple land use permits for the projects including:
- Site Plan approval from Logan Township Planning Board
- Site Plan approval from Gloucester County Planning Board
- Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan Certification from Gloucester Soil Conservation District
- Upland Waterfront Development Permit from NJDEP, including approval of a site-specific public access plan
- Wetland Transition Area Waiver from NJDEP
