SITE PLAN AND PERMITTING
UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST CONGREGATION OF THE SOUTH JERSEY SHORE
Galloway Township, Atlantic County, New Jersey
Marathon Engineering & Environmental Services, Inc. (Marathon) worked with the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the South Jersey Shore to develop a 140 seat church at the corner of Pomona Road and Liebig Street in Galloway Township, Atlantic County, New Jersey. The site design also included a parking lot, stormwater management facilities, landscaping, lighting, utilities, and associated site amenities.
The project was submitted to the Township Planning Board and testimony was presented in support of a building coverage variance. Notwithstanding the required coverage variance, the project was designed such that a large portion of the wooded site is preserved in its natural state.
The approvals obtained in connection with the project include a Certificate of Filing from the New Jersey Pinelands Commission, Preliminary and Final Site Plan approval, with a variance for site coverage, from the Galloway Township Planning Board, Site Plan approval from the Atlantic County Department of Regional Planning and Development, and Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Plan Certification from Cape-Atlantic Conservation District. The building and site design and construction was performed in accordance with guidelines set by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and the project received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
